
The highly awarded gourmet restaurant Neuwirt has a great tradition. For more than 160 years guests have been spoilt here with Tyrolian specialities. The Neuwirt was founded in 1844. In 1986 the old inn was replaced by the new hotel Schwarzer Adler and its name was not used for many years.
In 2000 the old name "Neuwirt" was reactivated by the Harisch family and the restaurant was completely refurnished. For the furnishing only local wood was used, which you can still smell the wooden parlours of the restaurant. 2 parlours were painted in the traditional color lime green. All parlours offer a waxed larch floor and cosy tiled stoves, which allow to feel the original Tyrolian art of living.
From now on the focus was put on highest quality of food and service. Already in the first year of this new era the Neuwirt was celebrated at the upcoming gourmet restaurant in Kitzbuhel and was awarded by Gault Millau with 2 "toques" (15 points). This culinary award skyscraped the Neuwirt into the olymp of the best Austrian gourmet restaurants.
In 2007 the Neuwirt was also awarded with 1 Star Michelin. In addition Gault Millau valorized the Neuwirt with 16 points (2 toques) and the Austrian "A La Carte" magazine awarded Stefan Hofer´s creations with 4 Stars (86|100 points).
